Wedding Locations in Maine
When you go to buy a house, the experts will tell you that the most important thing to consider is location, location, location! Location is equally as important when you’re planning your wedding and honeymoon.
If you live in Maine, you probably already know where your ceremony will take place…your place of worship, or another location with some significance to you and your family. The choice may also be easy for those who have vacationed in Maine; you may have a family home or camp here, and will know what’s available for ceremony and reception sites in the area. But what if you’re still undecided?
If you are planning a civil ceremony, your choice of location is virtually unlimited. Maine is of course well-known for its coastline (all 3,500 miles of it!). The state boasts myriad beaches, rocky outcrops, lighthouses, islands, and even the East coast’s only fjord—all of them presenting scenic backdrops for your Maine wedding. But it also has 6,000 lakes and ponds, 32,000 miles of rivers and streams, and 17 million acres of forest—more of the great outdoors to enjoy further inland.
If you’re not the outdoorsy type, there are a number of resorts, hotels and restaurants which offer an elegant setting for your wedding and/or reception. And of course many Maine resorts and hotels welcome the bridal couple to spend their honeymoon right here in Maine.
